I've lived my entire life in Cambridge, MA. A city known for its deeply left-leaning ideology. I love this city and I always will. As many people know it is not home of many conservatives. In fact, Conservatives might be the smallest minority in the city. To give some context to those who are not familiar with Cambridge, in 2012 my elementary school held a mock election for U.S. President. It allowed for students and teachers to vote. Very few, if any, in the entire school voted for Mitt Romney. In fact, there were posters of Obama all over the school. I always support people to vote for who they believe is the best candidate. The lack of diversity of thought, however, in a school or in a city is harmful. I began to realize that the teachers, knowingly or unknowingly, were pushing their opinions and beliefs on elementary school students. Throughout my schooling, conservative voices have been close to none. In many cases teachers would shut down students who offered ideas contrary to a left-leaning agenda. I find this alarming for a number of reasons. The Bill of Rights and freedom of speech were hardly mentioned in any of my classes. Also, the indoctrination of young minds, such as mine to a political movement should have no place in a classroom. I find this to be harmful and an impairment to a student's ability to learn and think critically.
The goal of this site is to promote free speech, exchange ideas on the pressing topics of the day, and show young people that it is ok to be open minded too many ideas. Holding views that are in line with conservative beliefs is not wrong and should not be frowned upon. I will always support free speech on this platform. Hopefully we will show that through debate and discussions young people are more accepting of different ideologies than many may think. On this site, I will write and post articles, create podcasts, and share videos on politics, current events, business and more. I hope that everyone, no matter their political beliefs, is able to find something thought provoking on this site. As the world becomes more and more politically polarized, the need for civil discourse is greater than ever.
