One Ruler One King
There have probably been few people in the entire world who have changed their thinking on a wide range of issues over the past five years as much as myself. One of the many areas I have changed my thinking has been in the realm of politics and political systems. Previously I believed democracy to be one of the greatest political inventions ever created. I would also have said that our constitutional republic, The United States, has been the greatest force for good on the planet. In hindsight I was extremely naive. In this paper I will develop an argument for why the democratic system the United States has today is ineffective and why America should have a king.
I think few would argue that the system of government we have today is effective and has the best interest of the people at heart. Elected officials often grow their wealth substantially while in office. Similarly, the strength of lobbyists in our capital city makes it nearly impossible for the law makers to represent the people who have voted them into office. If an open and dynamic democracy is supposed to push the best ideas to the forefront through the marketplace of ideas, why have the worst policies been enacted? If the elected representatives are beholden to the people then why have these horrendous policies remained in place despite the disapproval of a majority of voters. Let's take for example the topics of immigration and trade. These are two topics in which policies have been implemented that have almost single-handedly placed America into the declining state that it is. It is important to remember that the only way a democracy can work is if the voters' interests are represented by the lawmakers whom they elected. In the United States today the difference between voters and their congressman is enormous. When elected officials engaged in a multi decade embrace of globalization and free trade were the interests of factory workers represented? No. Large numbers of towns were hollowed out as factories moved overseas. Where was the accountability for the representatives that destroyed the towns they themselves represented? The destruction of America’s industry was caused by democracy. It was not a flaw but a feature of a system which encourages politicians to enact policies for short term gain. Due to different aspects our politicians know they can be very unpopular and still win reelection. This is an aspect of our two party system which promotes voting against the lesser of two evils. Thus ensuring many incumbents remain in power due to partisan politics. However, even if a politician is so unpopular they lose an election it still provides little in the way of accountability and reforming of unpopular and failed policies. Many politicians use their political office to further their professional careers and their financial status. This is the fundamental problem with democracy. Once in power, a politician is incentivized to promote their political party as well as their own self interests because they know that eventually they will be out of office without the ability to do so. Short term gains and incentives are the driving force behind America's political decisions. Though many politicians, consultants, lobbyists, and businesses benefit, in the long run the country suffers. A congressman and even President thinks of the future in terms of a couple years. Why does President after President raise the national debt, increase deficit spending, argue for lower interest rates, and juice the economy in the short term? Because they want their legacy and time in office to be remembered as strong and secure. They do not care if the whole system and economy plummets once they are out of office. The short term incentives caused by democratic institutions have piled this nation's debt to nearly 40 trillion dollars, massive deficits, countless foreign wars, and the destruction of America's working class for the benefit of radical imperialist capitalist firms. America needs leaders who prioritize long term success over short term benefits. A king does not think in years but in decades and centuries.
Before the usual critics such as capitalists, lobbyists, and all those who benefit from our weak system attack me for believing in the concentration of power in the hands of a few I would argue we already live under a tyrannical system today. As Pat Buchanan rightly says, what the United States has today is a “Judicial tyranny.” Though I am no supporter of the Trump administration it is quite clear there is a coordinated attack on his administration through the courts. Whatever you think of President Trump he was elected by the people to enact policies they support. If courts are able to strike down his directives on tariffs, the economy, and immigration do people really have power in the system we have today? I can think of countless examples of times the courts have completely ignored the will of the people and enacted rulings that are favorable only to America's elites. Take for example a recent topic of mass immigration. President Trump was elected for a wide range of issues, one of the most important being immigration. He was elected on a policy of the mass deportations of all illegal aliens living in the United States. Nonetheless the courts have defied American voters and have attempted to obstruct every measure he has put in place. If many lower courts had their way it would be nearly impossible to undo the invasion of immigration that has overwhelmed the country. Does this sound like a democratic country? The people and the President they duly elected are not allowed to implement important policy decisions. An even more egregious example of judicial tyranny can be seen in the Supreme Court rulings on gay marriage and abortion. At a time when the majority of the public was opposed to both practices the Supreme Court sidestepped the public's views and wrote opinions that would only be celebrated by coastal elites and university professors. It is time to be serious. One can make a defense of this system and there are many valid arguments to protect minority rights against the tyranny of the majority. However, let us not pretend that this system is democratic or that the defenders of this system care about democracy. This is even further evidenced by the leftists who now call the Supreme Court tyrannical for undoing decades of leftists jurisprudence. Were these radicals displeased with the court when it undid the laws of a majority of duly elected state legislatures in finding a phantom right to abortion in the constitution. These people are hypocrites and deserve to be treated as such.
If the Supreme Court gives a decision saying one must hang from the ceiling then they have to do so. The Supreme Court has the final say in legal matters and come any decision they want no matter how divorced that decision is from reality, public opinion, or constitutional law. Those, particularly on the left who say “we must protect our democracy” couldn’t care less about voters in Michigan or Ohio or any state having an actual impact on policy. What these defenders of democracy care about is imposing their unpopular opinion on gay rights, trans rights, and social justice on the rest of the public who are completely opposed to their beliefs. Their tool in the past fifty years for this assault on American principles have been the courts. What we have today is not democracy but control of policy decisions by unelected judges and a massive administrative branch of government. The dystopian nature of this system is exemplified in the leftist courts' use of the word liberty in the 14th amendment to promote demonic practices such as abortion, gay rights, women’s rights and transgender rights. Confusing young kids about their gender or sexuality is not promoting liberty but rather an attack on humanity. Today our country is run by an oligarchy of elites who enforce on the rest of the population concepts that are totally alien to how humans should live. Do not let them convince you they care about democracy or liberty, they care about control. What America needs is to be run by an aristocracy and a king. In other words, rule by the best.
It is important to dispel the false narratives many have heard about how terrible a monarchy is. It is also important to remember that these narratives are promoted by capitalists, consultants, democracy advocates, and many in positions of power who benefit from the chaos that emerges from a democratic system. Many people worry about accountability when so much power rests in the hands of very few people. Though this is a legitimate concern there are several points I would like to make. As we have discussed, democracy incentives its leaders to implement policies that promote short term gain at the expense of long term benefits. In many cases it is even worse. Politicians promote policies that only benefit themselves and those that have supported them. A king however has only one goal, to increase his own capital. At first glance many would react negatively to this idea. The notion that the king would only implement policies that benefit himself similar to a politician in a democratic system. Thus returning our problem of short term thinking back to square one. However, this could not be further from the truth. A king’s capital is the value of his people and his land. This monarch and many monarchs in the past are incentived to promote policies that increase the wealth of his subjects and his land. Accountability or as many would say in our system “checks and balances” are clear to see in a monarchical system. The checks on the King come from the people, not an unelected bureaucracy or court system. If a King implements policies that are very unpopular he knows he will not just be thrown out of office but that a violent revolution could take place. This prevents the King from taking extreme tyrannical actions. In a democracy this fear is nearly non-existent and many extremely unpopular policies could be implemented that benefit only a few. Nonetheless, these politicians will still enact these policies because they can simply leave office or hide behind their vague notions of democracy after enriching themselves and those around them. A king will also, as mentioned previously, think in decades not years because they want to leave behind a prosperous nation for their children and grandchildren. The angry mobs that could kill them could also kill their grandchildren and throw them out of power in a violent revolution also. In order to ensure stability for generations a King invests in infrastructure, social capital, universities, and employment that provides long term protection. In a democracy politicians know they will only be in power for a limited time and instead invest in projects that do not provide any long term benefit but make themselves and their friends more powerful and wealthy. Though there are exceptions to this rule it is more of a broader general statement. The final check on the monarch, and the atheists may find this silly, is God. The monarch must be held accountable by the Church and in no way can be an atheist. In America he must be a christian and only a christian. If the monarch believes he will be damned for eternity for implementing unjust policies he will do what is right for his people. He would not allow children to be mutilated by leftist and transgender activists. He would not allow women to slaughter millions of children through abortion. He would not allow millions of working class manufacturing jobs to be shipped overseas. Not only because he fears judgement in the next life but also because it will not benefit his capital, land and people. What many political scientists, economists, and commentators have seemingly forgotten is that the most important possession a country has is its people. Have the American people been treated well over the past 50 years? Jobs moved over seas, rising depression, suicides, drug overdoses, obesity homelessness, and many other negative aspects have become normalized. The people of this country need a renewal. Strong healthy children, well paying jobs, religious engagement, and pride in a nation not of foreigners but of Americans united by history and common ancestry. These are essential factors for any prosperous country and for a healthy future. The only way to solve our current malaise is implementing policies not based on GDP growth but health and happiness growth.
Before I arrive at my conclusion there are two more points I would like to make about the evilness of liberalism and democracy. First liberalism and leftism in general has always been and always will be in complete opposition to the bedrock of any society, the family. It is for this reason that leftists are some of the most depressed and angry people on the planet. How could one be happy when their entire world view is based on the abolishment of traditional family values. Think of every leftist or progressive cause that has been pushed in the past 60 years. These so called “social justice” movements almost exclusively are designed to prevent people from having children and families. The result has been lonely, depressed, and easier to control citizens. Gay rights indoctrinates people into the insane idea of having a romantic relationship with someone of the same sex. Thus preventing these people to have children of their own. Do these types of couples go on to have happy loving families, maybe in some cases. However, it is hard to argue that having parents of the same sex is better than having parents of opposite genders. In many cases homosexuals do not go on to have children, thus further undermining the strength of a society. Though the transgender rights issue is frankly sickening and disturbing it luckily does not impact as large of the population as women’s rights has. Women have been co-opted by leftists and capitalists to believe the most important thing they can do in their life is have a successful career. In reality the most rewarding and beneficial thing a woman can do for society and herself is have children. Women should not be in politics or the workforce. This was a trick played on society by two groups: the evil union between capitalists and leftists. The leftists use women's rights for power, when women don’t have families they are alone, depressed, and anxious thus making them much easier to control. The capitalists have no problem with it because they increase the size of the workforce, consume more, and add to the GDP. A country where leftism takes hold and capitalism is unchecked is a recipe for disaster. The final point I will make and one I will not dwell on is who democracy pushes to leadership positions. It appears to me that the worst types of people seek power in a democratic system. Women with a chip on their shoulder, men who want personal wealth, demagogues, and populists are all examples of those that thrive in a democratic system. Under a monarchy I would propose elite schools be created for the best and brightest men. Here at these schools they will teach literature, virtues, art, science, math, and other essential topics. A strong emphasis will be placed on physical fitness as a strong and healthy body makes one’s mind strong and healthy. This is where boys will be turned into men and will become the future leaders of our country. Though this is a very broad description of the system and specifics will need to be worked out I feel a strong framework for selecting future leaders is clear.
Our ineffective democratic institutions are designed to ensure the status quo. Though this may have been acceptable when our country was strong and healthy does anyone think that is still the case? Too many people have too much power and can prevent significant reforms from taking effect. These people with the power have no incentive for a healthy society because they profit off our sickness. From pharma to the military industrial complex billions are being made keeping this country at war, poor, and unhealthy. What these sickness profiteers enjoy more than anything is a ineffective and gridlocked government that is incapable of reigning in and limiting their power. The problem is not that there is too much power in the hands of too few. There is too much power in the hands of those who want to keep their foot at the throats of the American people. I say to America, stand up with your shoulders back and your chin held high and remember who you are. The most effective way to restore our country to greatness is with one leader who cares deeply for the American people. As Homer stated in the Iliad “ A multitude of rulers is not a good thing. Let there be one ruler, one king.”
